Check out some of the following links. Although some are getting a
little dated, these should provide you with good strategies for
optimizing your server.

Subject: [postgis-users] optimizing postgresql memory to speed up
queries
This may be more a postgresql question than postgis, but, does anyone
have any
good tips for postgresql settings which will enable the server to hum??
I have a server with 2 Gig of Ram and a 2 Gig processor, but am clueless
as to
the proper settings to help optimize. It is a dedicated GIS server.
Thanks in advance,
r.b.
