[postgis-users] postgis installation

I am installing postgis ( 0.8.1 ). At the end of installation, I am getting the 
error:

psql:postgis.sql:xxxx:ERROR: current transaction is aborted, commands ignored 
until end of transaction block

I get this when I invoke:
psql -f postgis.sql -d testdb

Can any one comment on as to what is going wrong?
