I'm in a forest management and forest products company.

> What are you using PostGIS for?

I use PostGIS instead of other programs that I used to use for GIS data
processing and summarizing.
My goal this year is to do all Geoprocessing and tabular
summaries/analysis in PostGIS.
It is increasingly becoming part of db applications I write which need
some refer to location.

> Why did you choose PostGIS?
-Made in Canada (n'est pas?)
-Marriage of spatial and tabular in one powerful, enterprise system.
-Server-side geoprocessing
-Built on the great power of Postgresql
-Open Source and a great support network (i.e. this mailing list)
-It's just so much fun!

> What makes you happy about your PostGIS installation?

-Access to CVS for latest greatest improvements
-Powerful function access through GEOS libraries
-Easy to administer

> What makes you unhappy about your PostGIS installation?

-Lack of native windows support for Postgresql
-Lack of packaged distributions (though I see this is improving in Linux
enviros)
-A directed
-Tie-ins to visualization and mapping programs
-Client-side editing tools
