[postgis-users] creating image from data in PostGIS

hi all,
i'm new.
i have a PostGIS database with some data. i'd like to
create an image (any format -- GIF, PNG, JPG etc) of
certain area/layer of the map.
could you please give a suggestion on the procedure?
