[postgis-users] how to store and retrieve images from PostGIS?

I've read at a Refractions PostGIS document from 2nd MUM that PostGIS 
can store large image data sets and got curious.

What type of images PostGIS can support? multi-band images? raw images?

and how to import these images to PostGIS and retrieve this data using 
MapServer?
