Alex,
the libpostgis1.. and libpostgis0... files require libstdc++ 4.0.2 and 
Ubuntu only supports 4.0.1 - The other postgis 1.0.4 files installed 
okay.  I'm reluctant to upgrade libstdc++ since it might make the system 
pretty unstable.  Is there any chance of compiling these programs with 
4.0.1 ?
