[postgis-users] does anyone use the CHIP type ?

Does anyone use the CHIP type ?

I ask because looking at how it is implemented
I found it unclean that the ENDIAN specification
is not in the first byte.

Also, the pixel value type (int16,int24,float32)
has alternative versions to account for the
endiannes.

I might clean this up for some RASTER work, but
I wondered how many users will suffer for a
modification of internal representation.
