Other than pgsql2shp of course (and the extensions that rely upon it).
Mapserver grabs the data in postgis form, I will grant you. However, I
think in terms of utility, the appeal of using some converter to a
common, usable form (such as ones that GRASS, IDRISI, or ESRI might use)
has its appeals in terms of getting the pgRaster out there and in use.
