[postgis-users] /usr/lib/pgsql/liblwgeom.so.1.0: undefined symbol: nth

I'm receiving this error upon running: psql -d
database -f lwpostgis.sql after installation. I'm
upgrading from postgis-1.0.5 to postgis-1.1.0 .
postgis-1.0.5 works fine

NOTICE:  type "histogram2d" is not yet defined
DETAIL:  Creating a shell type definition.
ERROR:  could not load library
"/usr/lib/pgsql/liblwgeom.so":
/usr/lib/pgsql/liblwgeom.so: undefined symbol: nth
NOTICE:  type "histogram2d" is not yet defined

I saw from a previous post that configuring without
GEOS works, but I need GEOS

please help.
