[postgis-users] PostgreSQL/PostGIS and ArcGIS Server 9.3

While we are on the topic. Does anyone know if ArcGIS supports PostGIS
under there SDE implementation and/or do they have some other format in
addition to PostGIS (like they had Oracle Spatial vs. SDE in prior
versions as I recall). I presume you would need to be running the SDE
service for versioning.

Also what is the performance difference (for decent size data sets) of
running via Direct connect (is that what its still called) vs. SDE?

I'm all confused by the literature I read on these topics. Initially I
thought there were 2 formats but now I have no idea.

Thanks,
Regina

Hot stuff, thanks Stephen. Looks very promising. With a bit of luck it
will ease the transition to PostgreSQL/PostGIS for those wanting to go
down that route. I can think of a few who will be looking at this over
the next few years.
