Sorry don't have the CentOS box up anymore I was experimenting with.

Have you tried disabling the EPEL from amazon and then using the
fedoraproject one instead?

Below are the errors I got when I tried to install
epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

I'm wondering if I back up to pg 9.2 and postgis2_92 if that might use older
packages to avoid the poppler issue?
