[postgis-users] how to change value of a cell in a row and append a new row?

Select * a row into target creates a variable

how to reveal the content of this variable?

How to change a couple of values of in this variable?

And, then put the values contained in the modified variable into a new row
in the table?

Anyone has got a clue?

Please explain.
