My current suspicion is that the lat/long coordinates based on the
intl. ellipsoid "oriented to Rome, M.Mario" may mean that the datum is
rome40  ????  (I found some possibly related ?? material on the Internet
that used Rome40...)

Could the problem be that I need to convert from rome40 to European
Datum of 1950?
