Just an added note here: check the NGS site for full precision online
geodesic computations:

FORTRAN sources are also there.  Note, I f2c'ed the nucleus of this
material some time ago and used that to create a php file which I am
now debugging.  A reference to a copy of the Vincenti algorithm that
the procedures are based upon is also at that site.
