[Proj] About UTM projection: sphere, ellipsoid or both?

Not sure if it answers your question. I've used UTM with the WGS84 ellipsoid.

"+proj=utm +zone=40 +north +ellps=WGS84 +datum=WGS84 +units=m  no_defs"
