As a side note just for clarification (It does not really address the 
main question), despite its name the "epsg.io" web site is unrelated to 
the EPSG organisation. The official and only authoritative source of 
EPSG definitions is https://epsg.org. Some definitions on epsg.io are in 
disagreement with epsg.org (e.g. regarding units of measurement or axis 
order), so I would suggest to take that web site with caution, e.g. only 
for definitions that are known to be correct.
