[PROJ] Strange axes in LV03

Hi

Reading the axes of EPSG:21781 https://epsg.org/crs_21781/CH1903-LV03.html
(Switzerland) I found something strange:
    CS[Cartesian,2],
        AXIS["easting (Y)",east,
            ORDER[1],
            LENGTHUNIT["metre",1]],
        AXIS["northing (X)",north,
            ORDER[2],
            LENGTHUNIT["metre",1]],

The first axis is east... however the abbreviation is "Y". Is there any
reason for that? Is it just a mistake in EPSG data? I have the impression
that I should ignore that abbreviation, and relay only on the direction.
But it is getting hard ;)
