Hi Tom,

I think both a workshop and presentation abstract should be submitted.

For a presentation, the MapServer team does a "MapServer Project Status"
one each year that is popular; for pycsw the title could be a little
sexier, so as to attract some that don't know what it is.

For a workshop, from all my years involved in FOSS4G workshops, I can
tell you that most attendees for the workshop will be at the very intro
level; so keep it simple and fun.
