Dear Bettina,

Good to hear you are working with QGIS in your project. 
I think the translation of the training manual into Russian language is a very 
usefull work and allows many people to get started with QGIS into their 
native language.

I'm forwarding this mail to the community team list and Stephan Reber, who 
maintains the QGIS page. 
I hope the document can be put on the web page, maybe together with Garys 
english version.

Dear Marco

Within a World Bank supported project to build capacity in GIS in Tajik
institutions we have been and are still working with QGIS. For last
years workshop we used parts of the training manual prepared by Gary
Sherman for the FOSS4G in Victoria (after getting his permission) and
also translated those parts into Russian (chapters 1-4 and 8). Later,
Artem Popov has been very supportive to check and revise the translated
manual. 

I think that this manual might be useful for other Russian speaking
QGIS-users. Artem promised to make sure that the manual would be
available online from the QGIS homepage. However, almost half a year has
past, and I have not heard from Artem and the manual is not yet
available online (as far as I have seen). Thus, I am forwarding the
pdf-file to you to have a look. Please let me know, whether you think
this document could be made available as it is, or whether we should
work e.g. on the format, the quality of the screen shots (which are not
very good as they are now).

Muslim Bandishoev, who is collaborating with us on the World Bank
project, has also been working on the translation of the eVis manual. As
soon as the final version is ready, we will get back to you with this.
