[Qgis-community-team] Q-GIS case study from Tanzania

Hello all, and thank you for the various positive replies to my post.

Otto: great that you can create a case study. I will send you a text directly.

Giovanni: that's good news about the forthcoming shapefile field handling.

Also Giovanni: about the GPS connection, I struggled for a while to find all the correct GPSBabel commands to create a GPS new device, in this case a Garmin USB device. Indeed, for a relatively non-technical GIS user like me, it took a long time to realize that GPSBabel documentation was what I needed to look for. Something I found by trial and error was that a 'space' character in any file path would stop the GPS tool working. So, perhaps some pre-configured devices would be useful, and perhaps some more guidance in the "GPS Device Editor" window? Finally, is it possible to connect to a Garmin GPSMAP62? Oddly, this unit doesn’t seem to support Garmin comms protocol.

Cheers all -
Nick.

Hi,

I can add the case study. Could someone, who was involved select 2 figures
and write a text, with structure and length similar to what you find in the
other already existing case studies, please?

Then send it directly to me as a zip file and I will add it this week.

Regards
Otto
