This is a nice start!

I'm not familiar with what a wireframe would exactly serve for, but I
was hoping for a little simpler interface. One which would mimic the
brainstormed infrastructure like:

What we most need, I think is both a 'information design' and a 'graphic
design'.

My view: only 3 entrances from the flick picture: discover, use, get
involved (looking to eg geonode.org), with or without those 3 entrances
in a menu.

Preferably, those 3 entrances, or that topbar can also be used for all
our other sites: issues, wiki, plugins etc etc

Going into that entrance you com on a second landing page, which
prefereably is also simple, and will guide you to either the right part
of our website, OR to a separate site like github or wiki (a third level
could be nessecary).

Thereby both guiding the viewer into our site structure (which can be a
little overwhelming) AND to force us to keep our information ALSO structure.

And do we still want a responsive design, or is that only for the docs?

Because a menu with more then 5 items does not fit in the bootstrap
themes (we will end up with more then 5 items in a menu, I'm sure. That
is why I prefer to have no menus)

Regards,

Richard
