Hello all,

I have been doing some tests myself. Without width constraints (in the rst
file or max size allowed), the images are created at 72 pixels per inch
(PPI). This is ok for web, but very low for printing in a A4. And that's
why re-sizing via rst file makes it look better in PDF.

I believe that this also affects the small icons like the "check icon" I
mentioned before, that are being printed at 72dpi. They look too big and a
bit unsharpened in the PDF.

In the following

can see the same image (measure line) at different ppi. The first one
is at 90ppi, the second is at 108ppi, the third is at 135ppi, and the last
one is at 180ppi. If you can, please print it. I tend to prefer the 135ppi
version. It's small enough to reduce the blur effect, but the fonts are
still readable.

The question is, is there a way to reduce all original images during pdf
creation? To get preferable ppi value?

I have read here <http://rst2pdf.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/doc/manual.txt> this:
"The rst2pdf default is 300DPI, but you can change it using the
--default-dpi option
or the default_dpi setting in the config file.". If I'm correct, we do not
use rst2pdf, but maybe this can be configured in texi2pdf also. If someone
point me to the configuration files, I won't mind doing some tests.
