The static content of the website (images) used for the building comes from:

1) copying the original (english) images to the static dir
2) copying (optional) translations of these images to the static dir
(thereby overwriting the english version)

BUT we are currently (still) translating the manual_en_v2.6 branch.

So for example this english dialog:

https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Documentation/blob/manual_en_v2.6/resources/en/docs/user_manual/introduction/annotation.png

has an german counterpart here:

https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Documentation/blob/manual_en_v2.6/resources/de/docs/user_manual/introduction/annotation.png

In general: if you want images translated: create one, give it the exact
name as the english one, and put it in the exact same folder/directory
BUT in the resources of your language.

All this in the branch that get's translated.
When we branch for a new documentation release, all translated resources
are being copied over to that branch.

I hope this is clear, if not do not hesitate to ask again.
