The reason that I am reaching out to you is that I intend to initiate the Armenian chapter of the QGIS community. Having successfully finished the ESS180 ?Introduction to Geographic Information Systems? course led by Ms. Aghavni Harutyunyan at AUA, influenced a deeper interest in QGIS for me and developed a strong desire of bringing people together around it and building a local community. Consequently, I?ve found out about your guidelines on how to initiate a local chapter and would love to firstly notify you about our intentions. Following the instructions I?ve recently secured the domain named qgis.am and reserve all the rights of using it. Once we ensure a mutual acknowledgment about having a QGIS Armenia community, I?ll proceed to utilizing the template publicly distributed on GitHub by the QGIS team and will deploy the appropriate website for our chapter as well as ensure appearance on social media. For the past years I?ve developed a strong experience of organizing community meetups for the local data community and I?m currently involved in organizing a conference around the same topic. That said, I would love to bring my experience to this matter and make the QGIS Armenia real. Lastly, I am copying Ms. Aghavni to this email as she played an important role in shaping the interest toward the Geographic Information Systems and QGIS specifically. Looking forward, Suren Poghosyan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
