Udig

Open Source and along the lines of QGis

Obviously Qgis has some great strengths in its integration with GRASS
but...

Udig is a very polished and useable app as it stands, and its WMS and  
WFS support is amazing, nice U.I. also.

Perhaps some collaboration would do some good?

Just some food for thought!
