We are an amateur orienteering team. We have analyze your program qgis and
we are interesting to insert the specific symbology to produce the
orienteering maps (please see the example enclose)
The map scale are 1:25,000 and 1:15,000 and the symbols must be realize
following the rules of International Orienteering Federation
www.orienteering.org like this two sets of symbols, depending the use of the
maps:
1. Standard symbols (ISOM2000) that is the most used (scale 1:7,500, 1:
10,000 and 1:15,000)
2. Symbols used in the Sprint game competitions (ISSOM 2005) that presents
some difference regarding park in the city (scale 1:4,000 and 1:5,000)
The rules are very accurate for the colour, orientation and are always
identified by unique-code (sometimes use by other software)
The symbols of the two set (130 symbols for each set) could be appears the
same, but sometimes the difference regard the dimension.
To begin the "work" could be useful start with the set ISOM2000.
The only software that we know, is Ocad www.ocad.com but it has many
problems about compatibility, and no layers.
We have no many fund and we wish that "work" not need many investment. We
would like only to promote the diffusion of the orienteering sport.
