[Qgis-developer] north arrows

Hi all.
One question re: the north arrows: I see in
/usr/local/share/qgis/svg/north_arrows/
various symbols, not including the one used in the north arrow plugin,
which is in:
/usr/local/share/qgis/images/north_arrows/
However, if I copy another arrow in the second dir, it does not appear
in the plugin window.
It would be good if additional icons could be included, especially
because one of our GFOSS.it associates has prepared a wide variety of
arrows (50).
Would this be possible?
BTW: any plans to include also trees and geological symbols from our
selection?
I think this can be done also in frozen stage, as the potential for
introducing bugs is trivial.
