It is possible, but I burned a couple hours on this task and failed and gave
up.  There is an open ticket on the issue at:

   http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/41

Feel free to construct a similar environment (I can provide the
commit-email.pl) and work out a solution.
