Hi Martin,

turns out to be much simpler than we thought: libpq does SSL by default
and JDBC doesn't.

I made that configurable in the postgres connection dialog in r10456 and
w/o SSL the rendering time for my sample layer with ~180000 polygons
drops from 20s to 10s...
