[Qgis-developer] raster analysis and filtering status?

Sorry for the overly slow response. Tim is correct, we have talked about
adding some of this functionality the core classes but it does not fit
currently in the raster frame work, which still needs to be rethought
for version 2.x.

As many filtering, reprojecting, clipping, raster arithmetic etc
procedures change or create new data, it is best to create new layers
for the output. So having this broader functionality in an analysis
library make a lot of sense, especially since many routines will be
working on multiple layers. Nonetheless, there will be opportunities to
add some functionality, maybe accessors to blocks of data for example,
to the existing raster class.

So what is really needed is a road map of desired manipulations and
their inputs. Then we start to see what is needed and where it would be
best implemented. That and about 20 more hours in a day.
