Many thanks Douglas. I put the following comment next to the download

Please note that you should ensure that older versions of QGIS (e.g.
ones you may have compiled yourself) have been removed from your system
before installing QGIS 1.0.0. These packages are also being migrated to
Fedora official repos so you may already be able to install simply by
typing:

yum install qgis
</code>

(I assumed yum install fedora below was a typo).
