Right - there was an extremely long thread about this on trac. I believe
the issue may be resolved in gdal trunk.

For me too - I need to investigate this further

Strange for me it passes. Using libgeos-3.0.0 3.0.0-5 under Ubuntu Ibex

This is a headache and we need to get to the bottom of it still...
