Hi Gary,

here's what i'd like to do (just a brief summary):

- implement detection of collisions (supposedly by using PAL library)
- bend (rotate) labels when working with lines
- options whether to label every part of multi-part geometry
- tool for overriding default placement and settings of labels

any further ideas are welcome!
