[Qgis-developer] Identified Feature tool

Dear all,

i need to build a tool like the standard "Identifid feature" (applyed 
to raster layer) with a personalized function modifying the real 
pixel value before showing it.
The environment of this tool is Python plugin.

Is there already developed sw that can be used?
Otherwise, can anyone suggest wich API must be used?
