Hi Paolo

I will have a look on it at weekend. My first guess would be, that this problem occurs, if you snap to feature that's not yet saved, ie. freshly digitized. So saving the layer before using trace edit may help. Can you confirm?

The plugin is much appreciated during the courses; unfortunately we get 
very frequent

Error:
         GDAL Error 1: Attempt to read shape with feature id (-24) out 
of available range.
Segmentation fault

Any hope of a quick fix?
