I think, easy to install and out-of-the-box "run and display map on web"
is that what is needed in this case. You can always move to some bigger
webGIS solution if advanced stuff is needed.

You can implement Apache basic server authentication (using company's
LDAP for example) without any modification to webGIS app code.
