Paolo,

Lots of things are interesting, but WCS isn't that trivial to do well and
there is a WCS client implementation in GDAL.  I don't dispute QGIS's
right to do alternate raster providers but every one that duplicates
something in GDAL does *feel* like a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
