As I'm still using 1.7.4 I've to say that an annoying "bug" I keep hitting
is the slowdown when using labels. I belive it was "fixed" in master by
clipping the lines to the viewport before starting the labeling machine.

I'm still not sure it's safe backporting, but that's pretty much the
biggest issue I face on normal use.

Are there plans for 1.8, btw ?
