Hi Folks

There is currently one blocker left in the queue[1] before we can
release 1.8. At this time we would like to declare a total string
freeze on QGIS 1.8 and call for final translations. Assuming the last
bug gets squashed this week, we will go ahead and make the final 1.8
branch and create release tarballs on Sunday June 3 2012. As agreed
in Lyon, we will hold off on the final release until the final stopper
issue is resolved. Werner will send out notices to translators
announcing the final push for translation completion.

Best regards
