[Qgis-developer] When was Python Scripting added to QGIS

Hi QGIS Devs,

For a course for Geomatics apprentices in Zurich we are preparing a
summary of the QGIS history. Does anybody know when Python scripting was
added to QGIS (which version / which year).

Another question: who was the first major user of QGIS and when? I would
guess Kanton Solothurn - but what year? 2005? 2006?

What major QGIS users do we have?
