[Qgis-developer] Customize GUI

Hi all,

at first I wanna explain some background: I want to develop a program
which has the ability to show specific "POI" if I say "jump to the
following coordinates...". The GUI should be minimalistic - only the map
and zooming buttons in an appropriate size (to use it with a touchscreen
while driving a shaking course e.g.). So, claimed capabilities should
be:

- Minimalistic GUI with big buttons
- jump to specific coordinates (with help of the API?)


Is it possible to realize it with QGIS and the Python plugin
capability?
