[Qgis-developer] Suppress emitting of signal: Bad practice?

PS:
Tim, there have been some comments (probably written by you) to 
deprecate / replace the non-batch signals and methods.
I've left them there (and removed the deprecation comments) as 
convenience methods and signals (and to not break the API).
As long as you don't have long-running jobs such as repainting the 
canvas it won't hurt to use the non-batch signals and for any other 
purpose, the batch API is in place and mentioned in the API doc. 
Therefore, in my opinion, these should be left there.

If you still see a benefit in removing these, you could do so now.
