[Qgis-developer] layers disappear from project at launch

Hi all,

When I open a project, a major part of its layers disappear when I open 
the project.
The 15 layers are added to the legend, and when it starts rendering 12 
of them are removed.

I looked at the debug output without seeing anything relevant.
The layer count goes from 15 to 3:

Do you have any idea what to look for?
