[Qgis-developer] adding symbols

Hi,

I would object to add more SVG symbols until we have a proper
infrastructure in place that would allow to add certain topics/themes
of symbols.

Adding lots of SVG symbols slows down QGIS considerably.

It would be better to have a website or repository where people can
have a preview of the symbols and download zip-files (as a first
step). If they like the symbols it is very easy to extract the
zip-file and make it available in the symbol path.

Adding tons of symbols slows down QGIS for all people - which is bad,
considering that people usually only need a small number of symbols.

Isn't there a GSOC project that will work on a SVG symbol repository?
If yes - I would propose to wait until this project finishes and then
work to add more symbols.
