Hi Marco,
yes, I think it is a good idea to put this in the application too!
Now we have a 'paypal'-button on the frontpage of the website, but what
I actually wanted (is on my todo list...), is one big html page with the
different possibilities of making donations to QGIS.
The idea is to make it easy for people to use different ways to donate
for the project. Yes, I have been looking into the OSM example [0] :-)
We could link to that page from within the application too.
I will create this page this evening, so we can fill it with different
ways to donate (we have a flattr account now too, for example).
