Apparently this kind of problems are rather common - why not adding a 
"Troubleshooting" section to the Download page?

I downloaded and
installed the 64 bit version as i'm on a sony vio running on windows 64
- and get the following error when I try to run it. Once I hit ok it
opens but then crashed when I tried to install a plugin.
