[Qgis-developer] ogrinfo can rename shapefiles columns

Hi all,

I was somehow surprised that ogrinfo can rename shapefiles columns, ex:

ogrinfo shapename.shp -sql "ALTER TABLE shapename RENAME COLUMN foo TO bar"

As this functionality is a "must" for common users, it would be
possible to use ogrinfo from within qgis to allow do this operation?
What would be the best place where to implement such tool?
