[Qgis-developer] python-qgis-common on (K)Ubuntu 14.04 not installable

Hello!

Both rjhale at northrivergeographic.com an myself [1,2] have already posted
to the QGIS User list about problems with QGIS 2.2 following an update
to (K)Ubuntu 14.04 because of a missing or wrong dependency concerning
the Python SIP-API: Kubuntu 14.04 has sip-api-11.0, but
python-qgis-common and python-qgis depend on sip-api-10.1, which is not
available on (K)Ubuntu 14.04.

What can be done about this problem? Is it a "simple" packaging problem
or are more changes necessary? Unfortunately, my knowledge of python is
practically not existent...

Sorry for cross-posting it now here to the developer list, but maybe
this is the better place than the user's list!

Thank you very much for your efforts,
kind regards from Austria,
Albin

And there is also a similar question on gis.stackexchange.com:
