[Qgis-developer] Map swipe tool in QGIS

Dear list,
i would like to know if it is possible to implement a plugin in QGIS
to overlay two map layer for interactive comparison, like the Map
Swipe tool in GRASS GIS[1,2].

If it is possible, what would be the best approach to implement it?
