Oh I thought you didn't need to list all the extensions, yeah that seems impractical. I thought you could add the extensions in the background and just show All supported files in the dialog box

It can be done but requires a really long filter string (with all possible
file extensions) shown in the dialog - not very practical. See attached
screenshot which occupies the whole screen.
To do this properly (without showing the long filter string) would require
a custom widget, I think.
